Haha I think your predictions are pretty legit! Your actors/actresses predictions have a fantastic track record so I think you're being very humble here... You really understand the mentality of critics!

The pre-awards critic consensus over films like Birdman and Boyhood has very much decided which way the awards will swing.

I tend to be deviant so I cannot say I always agree haha! For example, I see that Boyhood seems to have 2 different camps of opinion. One congratulates on Linklater's greatest cinematic achievement thus far and the other condemns the heralding of Boyhood's labourious and floppy narrative. I must say I am more inclined to the latter... because I personally feel (very biased) that film is a visual story-telling device and hence the narrative is a core component of a film's artistic value. The idea is novel but it seems to be squandered. I remember being very excited at the start; the performances were strong, and the drama was engaging. Then somewhere in the middle (right when Lorelei Linklater blossomed into a less petulant brat) I felt the film went downhill. The acting seemed contrived, ironically, for a film that attempts to portray "life as is". But that's just me, and certainly not most of the critics sitting on that panel...

Hope you break your record for this round's prediction!

Ha, it might follow the pattern of last year's Best Picture and Best Director winners - Best Picture for an earnest, honest film, Best Director for a flashy, technical film.
